In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
1 John 4:9
What is Salvation?
God loves all people and desires to have a relationship with each of them. Salvation means that an individual's relationship with God has been made right. Salvation brings eternal life, forgiveness of all sins, peace with God, and purpose in this life. Our salvation is the reason Jesus came to earth and died on the cross. (John 3:16).
Why do I need to be saved?
The Bible is clear that we have all inherited a sin nature and have fallen short of God’s glory through our sins (Romans 3:23). These sins separate us from God. When we are saved, our sins are forgiven and they no longer separate us from God. If someone dies without this forgiveness of sins, he or she will be separated from God for all eternity.
How do I get saved?
It is vitaly important to understand your need for a savior, and then recognizing that he is Jesus. It is also important to know that we cannot earn our salvation. When Jesus died on the cross, his death fulfilled the payment for all sins. So, we cannot “pay for our sins” again—they have already been payed for. It is important to know that salvation is a gift from God (Romans 6:23). To receive this gift, we make Jesus our Lord by believing that Jesus died in my place and rose again from the dead, and by receiving Jesus as my Lord. We, at that moment then become God’s child.
