The Christian life is a life long journey that requires us to move forward in our faith. Our hope is to introduce you to our loving God and equip you for the work that He has called you to. We have provided seven steps below to help you as you prayerfully determine your next step as you move forward in your faith.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
What is missions?
The word “Missions” simply refers to the activities of the church as it fulfills what is required to accomplish God's mission. A missionary is any individual that has been sent out to carry out that mission. We believe that mission is to make disciples. We also believe that ‘missions’ is for all of us, not just missionaries who get on a plane and go somewhere far away. God wants to use you to be a part of his mission anytime and anywhere.
We desire to be a going church.
There is a difference between being a going church and a church-on-the-go. We want to be a church that goes where the people are. This means that we must go outside the walls of the church, and outside the walls that we’ve built within and around ourselves individually.
GO LOCAL - HBC offers local outreach right in here in our community. We have several opportunities to go locally and serve those in
our neighborhood. From ongoing ministries to special events, we are able to impact those that are near with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ!
GO GLOBAL - HBC occasionally offers mission trips to places all over the planet. We call this global outreach. These trips help us as God works in us as we commit our time, money and energy to fulfill His mission. He also works through us to help our missionary partners all over the globe.
Engaging the mission.
God is drawing all men to Himself (Jn. 6:44; 12:32), and He has sent His followers into the world to tell them about the great news of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection (Acts 1:8). We have been given the ministry of reconciliation (2Cor. 5:17-21), and we desire to be a missions minded church.
For some, God will call you to go somewhere for a matter of months, or years, or perhaps for the rest of your life. We hope to be an equipping church that will prepare you for this type of life. Making disciples here first within the structure of HBC is the best way to get equipped to do it somewhere else!
